  • The Troublemakers have released a new video as part of the Tesla Takedown movement.
  • It’s a humorous pharmaceutical-style ad that aims to address Tesla Regret Syndrome.
  • While there are many ‘symptoms,’ relief can be found by ditching your Tesla and selling stock.

The Tesla Takedown movement is heading in a humorous new direction as a public service announcement has been released to address a “malady currently sweeping the nation.” It’s Tesla Regret Syndrome, and it sadly affects millions of people.

Created by the Troublemakers and a group of Seattle filmmakers – including director Megan Griffiths – the two-minute video shows a handful of Tesla owners who regret their purchase and have a “deep and abiding sense of dread that accompanies every waking moment.”

The latter is one of the symptoms that impacts people who “chose their car because they care about the future, only to discover that the CEO is an egomaniac out to dismantle the U.S. Government and sell it for parts.” However, as typical pharmaceutical ads note, there is help.

Unfortunately, you can’t pop a pill as the group suggests, selling your car and ditching Tesla stock. The video goes on to say that with the impending recession, not everyone can afford this treatment, so they suggest getting temporary relief from a bumper sticker that decries Elon Musk. Owners can also post anti-Tesla content, join protests, and tell others to avoid the company.

The clip is part of a larger campaign that includes Tesla debadging stations and Tesla Regret Syndrome banners that will be hung over highways. There are also informational pamphlets, a website, and a help line at 1-866-EFF-MUSK.

The website has a full list of symptoms, including avoiding eye contact when getting in or out of your car, reflexively telling people how long ago you bought your car, wincing whenever you hear a honk, and obsessively searching online dealerships for other EVs.

It’s a creative campaign and the Troublemakers’ Valerie Costa said they launched it because customers were forced into becoming “rolling billboards for a Nazi destroying our country’s infrastructure.” She added, “Musk is not all-powerful and people who own Teslas have special leverage right now … so we wanted to show that, creatively and with humor.”
