This 1997 Land Rover Discovery is said to be one of 250 XD examples built for the North American market and is finished in AA Yellow with a black hood decal. Refurbishment work under prior ownership consisted of rebuilding and modifying the factory V8 to displace 4.6-liters, removing the body from the frame, painting the frame, installing a 5″ lift kit, and fitting a Bahama Beige leather-specification interior with heated power-adjustable front seat functions. Equipment includes a four-speed automatic transmission, a locking center differential, and a dual-range transfer case as well as a front brush guard, a winch, ARB bumpers, a roof rack, LED trail lighting, bolt-on fender flares, a receiver hitch, 16″ Castor-style wheels, a Dual digital stereo, cruise control, and air conditioning. This Discovery is now offered in Connecticut by the selling dealer at no reserve with the owner’s manual, service records, and a clean Georgia title.
The truck is finished in yellow and exterior features include a black hood decal, bolt-on fender flares, fog lights, a front brush guard, ARB front and rear bumpers, a winch, a ladder, roof rails, a roof rack, a receiver hitch, alpine windows, running boards, LED trail lighting, XD fender decals, rear tail light guards, and a rear window wiper. A February 2005 Carfax report entry notes “minor damage with another motor vehicle” and “damage to front of vehicle”.
The 16″ Castor-style alloy wheels are mounted with 285/75 BFGoodrich All-terrain T/A white-letter tires, and a spare tire is mounted to the swing-out tailgate. The truck rides on a 5″ lifted suspension with Bilstein shocks and stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs. Work in 2024 is said to consist of performing a brake fluid flush.
The factory cloth interior was replaced with a Bahama Beige leather-specification interior with heated power-adjustable front seat functions under prior ownership. Woodgrain trim accents the center stack, console, and door panels and interior amenities include a Dual digital stereo, dual front airbags, cruise control, and air conditioning.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 135-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 115k miles, approximately 700 of which were added by the selling dealer. An October 2023 Carfax report entry notes a “Mileage Inconsistency”.
The 4.0-liter Rover V8 was rebuilt and resealed under prior ownership and the selling dealer tells us that the cylinder heads were machined .020″ and a 4.6 crankshaft and connecting rods were installed along with a replacement camshaft and lifters. An oil change was performed most recently in 2024.
Power is delivered to all four wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission, a locking center differential, and a dual-range transfer case. Work under current ownership consisted of performing fluid services on the transmission and differentials. The selling dealer tells us that the body was removed from the frame and the frame was cleaned and painted under prior ownership.
An engine rebuild invoice and refurbishment photos accompany the vehicle and are displayed in the gallery.
The Carfax report shows the aforementioned damage report.
